WHAT IS A BRAND PACK?
Written by melinmedia
A brand is how your customers perceive you. It is what they say about you when you are not there!
It is your personality, values and indefinable nuances that help create your USP.
It is much more than a logo or colour, yet these elements are rules that inform a brand pack and help consistently deliver all the elements that shape how a company is perceived.

A BRAND PACK SHOULD DEFINE ALL THE ELEMENTS OF WHAT YOU STAND FOR.
But what exactly is a brand pack?
A brand pack, sometimes referred to as a brand kit or style guide, is a comprehensive document that serves as the DNA of your brand as presented to the world.
It encapsulates the visual and verbal elements that define your brand’s identity, ensuring consistency across all communication channels. From the logo to the tone of voice, a brand pack provides a unified framework that communicates your brand’s essence.
THE BLUEPRINT
Whilst these can be vast documents, in essence how they evolve depends on each brands needs (and budget!) although even if you are a one-man-band you can create your own blueprint based on these key elements, which we cover in our printable template that you can edit in CANVA.
1. Logo and Variations:
A brand pack includes the primary logo along with variations, ensuring adaptability across different contexts and mediums. They are ofter designed in black and white first to ensure simplicity, then worked so that they can fit in square, round and oblong shapes and how this is handled. This includes the space and adjacencies as much as what fills it.
2. Colour Palette:
Specifies the brand’s colour scheme, ensuring consistency in visual representation. This includes primary and secondary colours, along with guidelines on their usage. It is often useful to have both Pantone (for print), CMYK, RGB and Hex (web) codes for each colour, for communication and consistency.
3. Typography:
Outlines the approved fonts and their variations, ensuring uniformity in written communication and maintaining brand identity.
4. Imagery Guidelines:
Provides guidelines on the style and types of images that align with the brand’s aesthetic, ensuring a cohesive visual narrative.
5. Tone of Voice:
Defines the preferred style and tone for written communication, ensuring a consistent brand voice across all platforms. By example.. are you formal, British, or friendly and casual slang?
6. Brand Story and Values:
This articulates the brand’s narrative, mission, and core values, providing a deeper understanding of the brand’s ethos. Who you are, who you align with, what quality and aesthetic is important to you (and your customers) and what your “no” line is.
